Graduate Info

USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism is an essential means of training the next generation of scholars to appreciate the best of traditional values and time-tested competencies, as well as adapting to the skills and knowledge of a rapdily-changing world. Debate has always been, and will continue to be, one of the most direct ways that USC has influenced the communication discipline and our communities.

USC has traditionally been one of the nation’s leading institutions in the training of graduate students as communication scholars and directing debate programs. USC alumni have gone on to direct college debate programs at a number of schools including Wake Forest University, Cornell University, the University of Utah, the University of North Texas, Whitman College, James Madison University, California State University-Northridge, the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Arizona State University, Diablo Valley Community College, and the University of Rochester.

Annenberg’s PhD program encourages students to expand their horizons with research, teaching, and service in a variety of contexts. Working with the debate program is one of many opportunities for doctoral students.

Many former debaters also find the USC Masters in Public Diplomacy program as a unique experience. This one of a kind program offers a unique fusion of international relations and communication study.
