Unlike intercollegiate athletics, intercollegiate debate is guided and governed by a series of organizations. These links can help you locate the appropriate organization.
Debate Organizations
Cross Examination Debate Association - This organization promotes intercollegiate academic policy debate in a variety of ways, including leading the topic selection process and fostering an interest in program development and retention.
CEDA, along with the AFA and NDT, helps to determine the single proposition or topic that guides each season of policy debate. The committee that oversees that process has made its procedures and policies available.
The National Debate Tournament - This tournament is the longest continuous debate national championship. Started at West Point in 1947 schools must qualify entries to the NDT.
American Forensic Association - The professional organization of educators and researchers in argumentation and public advocacy.
Debateresults - The site devoted to tournament entries. This site, generously run by Jon Bruschke of CSU Fullerton is the primary means of entering tournaments.
NDT Reform Documents
Over the last few years a number of major reform proposals have been brought before the NDT and other bodies. This is an informal archive of those documents.
